DOLPHINSWIM Institute and the Museum of the Natural Sciences Constanta have founded a research jointventure in 2017, which aim it is to study the reciprocal effects of human-dolphin interaction within a longterm research program. Topics of this research are the effects of dolphin assisted therapy both regarding the patient as well as the optimization of its method in respect of behavioral enrichment and the well being of the dolphins. For this study, dolphin assisted therapy is being offered and carried out during several weeks throughout the year. The entirely new renovated dolphinarium of Constanta Museum complex provides with barrierfree design and a large indoor dolphinpool which exceeds EU housing standards. There live 2 female bottlenose dolphins which have been specially trained for the program. The dolphininteraction and the therapysessions in the room take place at the premises of the dolphinarium.
Mamaia Beach, located next to the dolphinarium is the number one beach holiday resort of Romania. The destination is accessible by plane within few hours flight from any major destination through Bucharest airport and ground travel of 2,5h. Since 2015 Constanta has got a new airport, it can be reached for example directly from London.
